Breath of the Universe

It is more Photoshop than Poser this time. It is a mash of various public domain images from NASA.

I have been catching up on the Stephen Hawking and Morgan Freeman shows I had on DVR. I love space and how mind-boggling it is. The possibility of universes inside of universes and what WAS before the Big Bang and black holes and and and…you get it, right? Of course, when you get tired of thinking, you can just look. My husband bought me a very nice telescope a few years ago, but I don’t get to use it much due to being in the city. Maybe we can get ourselves a dependable babysitter and start going to star parties.

Aside from bad art, I’ve been taking pictures of anything and everything lately. I decided to start using my Flickr account again. I’m always open to new social site friends.

While we were in college, Gilbert liked to gift me wildflowers that he would pick from the fields around our dorms. Quite often, I would get in my car after class and find a bunch of flowers in my seat.

From a very young age, Xander started doing this as well. There are still dried flowers in the bottom of the stroller. I finally had to designate a vase to keep my collection of flowers he picks for me. A few months ago he had been playing in the backyard by himself. He comes in with a frown on his face. “Mom-mom (yes, I’m not mommy or momma). I’m sorry I broke your flower. I tried to pick you a rose and I broke a big piece off.”

Silly boy. I was just glad that he did not cut himself. Some of my rose bushes have huge thorns. I went outside to see that an entire branch had been broken off. I trimmed the rose stem and added it to my vase. ♥ Yeah, my house is filled with dead flowers.

He started a Kindergarten prep class yesterday. This was so hard for me. I had to hurry out of the school before I started crying and anyone noticed. We were worried how he would adjust to school since he has never been to daycare or preschool. According to the teacher, he did wonderfully.

I think Gil and I have done a pretty good job. He’s amazingly intelligent and polite. He’s such a wonderful little boy.

He was so excited to leave this morning. Everyone in his class is already his friend. :)

So now it is just Linette and I, who is still working on her hour-long breakfast and randomly waving at me. Then there is the occasional squeal as a kitten runs by. I love my babies.

Things on the art front are…well, going. :D I’ve actually managed to finish an image I started forever ago but had been stuck on the lighting. I’m quite pleased with the turnout, especially since it is hard to make a ‘dark’ image without it actually being dark. On second thought, it really isn’t that dark.

Mark of the False One

I am almost finished with another horror related image (oh who am I kidding, almost all my horror is based off of Silent Hill). I’m just tweaking the last bits of the pose and trying to decide on my camera angle.

Other than that, not much has been happening creatively. Gil bought me the Awakening expansion of Dragon Age: Origins for Mother’s Day. I’ve been spending quite a bit of my free time trying to complete my second DA:O playthrough since I really don’t want to play my completed rogue character or make a new Orlesian character. I’ve grown rather fond of my Cousland warrior.

Linette has finally decided, at 16 months, that she wants to walk. One day she was crawling and the next she is walking; it was that quick. Now she wants to be in the rooms that were once forbidden, especially the front hall. I wanted to step outside for a moment to check on my newly blooming lilies, and she had followed me to the door but would not come out. When I came back inside, she threw her arms around my legs and said, “ahh wub woo,” (translates into I Love You). She is very affectionate and stops her play every few minutes to hug me.

Even Xander made me feel special. He spent last week with my parents, who live several hours away. I was fairly certain there would be a lot of drama when it came time to pick him up, but he actually told me that he was ready to come home. We met my parents at a restaurant to pick him up, and the entire meal he could not keep his hands off of me. He is at the age where his does not want to hug or express affection, so he must have really started to miss me.

He bought me a shirt and matching accessories for Mother’s Day. My mom says he picked them all out himself, she just had to help him with the size. She had been shopping for herself and he started to find clothes he wanted to buy for me. He really enjoys buying things for others, and if we let him buy all the gifts he wants to we would not have enough money for bills and food, haha. He is such a sweet kid.

It is an exhausting job and is usually thankless, but simply being a mother is its own reward.
