It is more Photoshop than Poser this time. It is a mash of various public domain images from NASA.
I have been catching up on the Stephen Hawking and Morgan Freeman shows I had on DVR. I love space and how mind-boggling it is. The possibility of universes inside of universes and what WAS before the Big Bang and black holes and and and…you get it, right? Of course, when you get tired of thinking, you can just look. My husband bought me a very nice telescope a few years ago, but I don’t get to use it much due to being in the city. Maybe we can get ourselves a dependable babysitter and start going to star parties.
Aside from bad art, I’ve been taking pictures of anything and everything lately. I decided to start using my Flickr account again. I’m always open to new social site friends.
I can’t remember when it started, but for nearly a decade Akira has been the knight to my lady. Several years ago she even drew a fanart of us.

For years I have tried to return the favor, but I was always hampered by my limited drawing skills. When I acquired Poser a few years ago, I knew that my Knight & Lady image would finally be a possibility. I’ve started and scrapped the image several times, but the other day I was finally able to complete something I was happy with. Behold the knight Akira and Lady Astarte. They are a bit annoyed and ready to kick some ass.
I didn’t hear about LIMBO until the day before it was released. I don’t keep up with gaming news anymore unless a friend blogs or tweets about something that caught their eye. I was reading the latest Game Informer for Dragon Age 2 info, and in the review section they had a bit about a new indy Xbox Arcade game. I immediately hopped onto Live to watch videos and learn more about this title.
It’s not very often that a game makes me go, “Whoa.” It is really hard for me to describe this game since I am not much of a writer. The game is so dark and disturbing that there were times where even my morbid mind did a double-take. The visuals are hauntingly beautiful. I think I could play the game over and over just to admire the art style. The game play? Hah. This is the first (single player) game in a very long time that had me swearing at the TV and wanting to throw my controller. It is not annoyingly difficult, but there is enough challenge to make you feel accomplished after completing a frustrating puzzle. I just wish the game had been longer or at least not as expensive as it was.
It was a very refreshing game for this gamer who no longer buys every hot title as it comes out. I have become very picky about what I want to play, but this game called out to me like very few games can. I remember when I played Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee when all the other games were pushing the Playstation’s 3d graphics to the limit. It was love at the first puzzle. It’s not always about super realism and complicated game play.
While we were in college, Gilbert liked to gift me wildflowers that he would pick from the fields around our dorms. Quite often, I would get in my car after class and find a bunch of flowers in my seat.
From a very young age, Xander started doing this as well. There are still dried flowers in the bottom of the stroller. I finally had to designate a vase to keep my collection of flowers he picks for me. A few months ago he had been playing in the backyard by himself. He comes in with a frown on his face. “Mom-mom (yes, I’m not mommy or momma). I’m sorry I broke your flower. I tried to pick you a rose and I broke a big piece off.”
Silly boy. I was just glad that he did not cut himself. Some of my rose bushes have huge thorns. I went outside to see that an entire branch had been broken off. I trimmed the rose stem and added it to my vase. ♥ Yeah, my house is filled with dead flowers.
He started a Kindergarten prep class yesterday. This was so hard for me. I had to hurry out of the school before I started crying and anyone noticed. We were worried how he would adjust to school since he has never been to daycare or preschool. According to the teacher, he did wonderfully.
I think Gil and I have done a pretty good job. He’s amazingly intelligent and polite. He’s such a wonderful little boy.
He was so excited to leave this morning. Everyone in his class is already his friend.
So now it is just Linette and I, who is still working on her hour-long breakfast and randomly waving at me. Then there is the occasional squeal as a kitten runs by. I love my babies.
